Atlantic Highlands Sailing Education Program

ATL. HIGHLANDS Registration is now open for the Atlantic Highlands Sailing Education Program (AHSEP) will host the AHSEP AWESOME Junior Regatta Saturday, July 24.


The AHSEP AWESOME Junior Regatta consists of one day of racing on Sandy Hook Bay launched at the Sandy Hook Bay Catamaran Club (SHBCC), 130 Center Ave.


The SHBCC offers a beachfront launch for all junior sailing vessels. Registrants must be current enrollees in an area summer sailing instructional program and coordinate their participation and be supported by that program’s own instructional staff and chase/support boat(s).


Visiting club chase/support boats that cannot be launched on the beach or delivered by water may be launched at the nearby Municipal Harbor using the AHYC hoist or the AH Municipal Harbor boat ramp at 2 Simon Lake Dr. Pre-registration of all such support vessels requiring use of the Municipal Harbor facilities will be required and a specific one day permit will be issued in advance at no cost. The regatta will consist of multiple races per fleet – conditions permitting. The Race Committee may alter the format at their discretion. Conditioned on a minimum of three registrants per fleet, the AHSEP AWESOME Junior Regatta will have five fleets: 4 x Optimists fleets - Registration Fee $60 per sailor ($70 for late registrations after July 18th) Green (1st year sailors age 15 and under); White (Age 10 & under); Blue (Ages 11 & 12); Red (Ages 13-15) 1 x Club 420 fleet -


Registration Fee is $100 per team of Skipper and one crew member; $120 for late registrations after July 18th Separate individual registration/waiver forms for skipper and crew are required.

When registering to compete in the Club 420’s, the Skipper will need to provide the crew member’s name and email address and select “Email Crew Member” to send Crew member the link to complete an individual registration and waiver form. Such Club 420 registrations will be listed as pending until both Skipper and Crew have completed the registration/waiver forms.)

All participants must be 8 years or older but no older than 17 as of July 24th. All participants will receive a custom designed T-shirt! Additional t-shirts can be purchased on race day.

One lunch voucher will be provided to each participant. Additional lunch vouchers will be available at the registration table for $10.


The AHSEP AWESOME Junior Regatta is registered as a CLEAN REGATTA with the SAILORS FOR THE SEA initiative. All are asked to participate in the Green Initiative by bringing their own refillable water bottle for use during the race. There is a filling station on-site.


The itinerary begins at 7:30 AM. Check-in and Late Registration: 9:15 Skippers Meeting: 10:30 AM followed by First Race Gun, awards and lunch service at the Sandy Hook Bay Catamaran Club immediately following the last race.
