Day of Remembrance

Governor Murphy signed Executive Order 258 ordering the flag of the United States and the flag of the State of New Jersey to be flown at half staff at all State departments, officers, agencies and municipalities during appropriate hours on Friday, Sept. 3, 2021 in recognition and mourning of Keith Pinto.

Pinto is the 19-year old Toms River lifeguard who was killed by a lightning strike while on duty Monday afternoon, Aug. 30, at the South Seaside Park beach in Toms River. Pinto was an athlete who ran track at Toms River High School

Kevin Pinto, Keith’s twin brother, who had been a lifeguard with his brother for the last four years, was of from work Monday when the accident happened during a fast

moving storm.

Keith was a rising sophomore at Ocean County College with a plan to study criminal justice and psychology with plans to join the US Marine Corps.
