MANALAPAN – An outdoor Pop-up concert will be conducted at the Monmouth County Library Headquarters, Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 8 at 2 p.m. and guess are invited to bring a long chair and enjoy the music of the Sentimental Journey Big Band. The Library is located at 125 Symmes Dr.
The exciting 17 piece Big Band with vocalist Altha Morton will celebrate Library Card Sign-Up Month with their musical renditions of a trip along Broadway. Morton will weave stories and melodies in with memorable show tunes from over the years. Truly a lullaby of Broadway.
The program is presented by the library through a grant from the Recording Industry’s Music Performance Trust Fund.
“In collaboration with the American Federation of Musicians, the Trust Fund is coordinating a North American community grant initiative to celebrate the return of live music,” said Trustee Dan Beck. “It celebrates the vital role live music and working musicians play in building thriving communities.”
In the event of inclement weather, the concert will be held indoors, but chairs will not be permitted inside the library. Indoor seating is limited, and masks are strongly recommended.
Registration is required for the free presentation and is available at the Upcoming Events column of the Library’s website after Sept. 1 at 9 a.m. Visit the website at www.MonmouthCountyLib.ord or connect @MonCoLibrary for further information and to register.
