New Knights

HIGHLANDS – Four men were inducted into the Order of the Knights of Columbus during an impressive ceremony at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church Saturday, June 5.

The ceremonial event was hosted by the Rev. Joseph J. Donnelly Council; #11660 which meets at the church.

Inducted were Scott Henderson and Frank Benedetto of Red Bank Knights of Council Council #3187, and Jorge Knudsen and Ian McGinnis of the Rev. Joseph J. Donnelly Council.

The Exemplification rite was presented by the Rev. Joseph. J. Donnelly Degree team comprised of Grand Knight David Convery, Frederick Hofmann, Brian Anderson, Michael Burker, Daniel Halpin and David Legg, together with the Rev. Thomas Barry, parochial vicar of Our Lady of Perpetual Help St. Agnes Parish and also a Knight of Columbus.

Family friends join members of both the Red Bank and Highlands councils in welcoming the new Brothers.

The Exemplification introduces Catholic men wishing to be Knights of Columbus to the founding principles of the Order, Charity, Unity, and Fraternity. Upon completion of this ritual, the candidates become Third Degree Knights.

The Knights of Columbus is a fraternal organization founded by the Rev. Michael J. McGivney in Hartford, Ct. in 1882. And officially chartered by the state legislature as a fraternal benefit society. Mutual aid and assistance are offered to sick, disabled and needy members and their families and social and intellectual fellowship are promoted among members and their families through educational, charitable, religious, social welfare, war relief and public relief works. The organization ahs grown to more than two million men in countries around the world and their work encompasses a variety of local, national and international projects.
