Mystery The Harbor Commission unanimously approved a two year lease for the former Shore Casino restaurant at its meeting last night, but conceded it did not yet know the corporate name of the new tenant.
Following an executive session, Harbor Commissioner James Krauss made the recommendation that a two year lease be approved by the commission and sent to the Mayor and Council with their recommendation for approval. The business would be a restaurant and catering facility similar to the Shore Casino of the past half century, and the corporate name under which the lease will be made will be made known at the September 21 Council meeting, when the governing body is expected to act on the board’s recommendation.
The lease, at $20,000 a month will begin October 2 for the two year period.
Krauss, who is chairman of the Harbor Commission’s lease committee,, said after the meeting he is most pleased with the lease and the agreement and is hopeful the new business venture will be highly successful and the lease would be renewed at the end of this first lease period.
In the meantime, the Commission also approved leasing the Casino space to Netflix along with the tennis courts of two days, Thursday and Friday, at a total fee of $6500.
